Homeopathy is a therapeutic method after the "pharmacological principle of similarity."
In short: a substance can be both toxic and therapeutic. It is toxic , causing , in a healthy subject , a set of similar symptoms (of homeopathy: identical) to those presented in disease.
It becomes therapeutic when it faces the causes of these symptoms in a patient with this disease.
Commonly , we say treat "evil with evil." But to treat these substances must lose their toxicity , they are (therefore) reduced to very low levels after several manipulations called infinitesimal (dilutions) time.
How are homeopathic remedies made?
Homeopathic preparations are made from substances or compositions called "stem" and according to three principles: 1. The principle of similarity means that products normally toxic at high doses in healthy subjects can treat , in very small doses , a sick individual.
2. Principle of dilution based on the idea that it is enough to dilute , by successive operations , the originally produced toxic , so there are only infinitesimal doses in which no residual toxic product departure.
3. Potencies are violent unrest experienced by successive dilutions. They are supposed to amplify the action of the product even if it is really recognizable molecule after all these dissolutions. It use 2500 strains from the three natural kingdoms: animal , vegetable or mineral. Mother tinctures (at the base of dilutions) are obtained by maceration of plants stabilized (more rarely dry) in alcohol.
Homeopathic dilutions are carried by a substrate liquid (water or alcohol: drops , drinkable ampoules) or solid (granules , doses , tablets , ointments).
